GIS & Mapping

Welcome to the Knox County Emergency Management Agency GIS Program.

We are a Knox County GIS resource.  This page is being developed to provide useful publicly available data.

What is GIS?

The short answer is that a Geographic Information System is a tool that integrates hardware, software, data, and trained personnel to map, analyze, and assess real-world questions.

What can GIS do for you?

GIS is a scalable, visual, and location driven tool.  Any data with a spatial component can be pulled into a GIS system, analyzed and visualized in different ways to model potential impacts of storms, manage utilities, map open spaces, prioritize economic development areas, develop maintenance schedules, monitor asset deployment for disaster recovery, among  many, many other applications.
